Sylvia Walks in East Hampton NY
Greetings from East Hampton!
It's starting to feel like Spring on the East End!
So why is it that my walk takes me to the Old Burial Ground?
Here's a headstone erected 100 years ago...
Fairly modern in the grand scheme of things!
textures and angel motifs...
sandstone and slate...
skulls and crossbones!
and don't forget "His Wife"!!!
snakes entwined in stone garlands...
a weeping willow shading an urn...
and moon-faced cherubs looking out over Town Pond.
Soon the swans will start building a new nest in the pond
and new life will reign over the entrance to East Hampton.
And the Summer People will start to build (or rent) their own new nests
and another cycle of seasons begins...
So here's to Spring!!!
Hope you enjoyed walking with me...
