Sylvia Walks in East Hampton NY

Greetings from East Hampton!

This week I am doing something a bit different in this blog.

I am going to share with you some of the new photographs I took last week

of our beautiful Graybarn Cottage.

The pool is open - I got to swim laps before the guests checked in Friday! 

(one of the few things I like to do as much as taking pictures)

The fountains sparkled in the late afternoon sunshine...

the ginko tree posed for me...

Beauty is in the details...

and relaxation is framed by holly branches.

ahh!!!

The master bedroom is relaxing too...

and the details make me smile...

my photographs of an old barn grace the barnboard walls..

The bathrooms offer more opportunities for relaxation!

How about a steam shower with rosemary and eucalyptus essential oils?

I love the way the antique Asian furniture fits in to almost any setting.

(A plug here for my dear friend Ruth at Antiques by Zaar!)

Gary designed the kitchen for entertaining...

and keeping the chef entertained while he works!

A house built around an old barn creates lovely corners...

(another great alter table from Antiques by Zaar!)

(and Fisher's Furniture in Sag Harbor made us this amazing table)

And check out the view for the living room loft...

an incredible perspective...

a great place to set up your laptop and post a blog while the sunshine streams in and soft music mixed with bird song surrounds you!

Greetings from East Hampton!

Sorry I haven't posted any new photos for a few weeks, sometimes life gets in the way!

But it's mid-May and spring is a couple of weeks earlier than usual...

The choke cherries are already past their prime...

All the shops are opening on Main Street...

There is traffic even in the early morning...

But muted by fog and splendid spring colors!

We had an Australian TV Show shoot a segment at The Mill House Inn!

My lilacs obliged by blooming early...

Corry co-starred with the incredibly cute Tom Williams!

And it was my birthday! Lee gave me pink Hydrangeas and Pink Champagne...

Mother Nature turned the back deck at the Graybarn Cottage into a pink-frosted layer cake!

And the sun shone...

and the wind blew...

and the surf roared...

and, at least here in this little piece of heaven, it felt like all was right with the world...

Pray for peace and clean beaches...

This is what you get when they predict rain over the weekend!

Oh Joy! to be a dog on the beach!!!

Oh Joy! to be a girl with seashells and surfers in the sunshine on the beach!!!

and Oh Joy! to see my flowers start to bloom...

...in the back yard at The Mill House Inn!

Spring is in the air, in the earth and in the lime light of new leaves!

The Mill House Inn and apple blossoms looking at each other across the old burial ground...

Magnolias - pink and cream - rejoicing against the blue sky...

and historic East Hampton rejoicing in the sunshine...

and it's SPRING!!!
